Disability services
The AEU is committed to gaining improvements that will make a difference in the terms and conditions of disability workers. We cover instructors in day services, program managers, business services officers and employment officers in Victoria.
Our priorities are your priorities: improved salaries, better career opportunities, reduced workload and a significant reduction in the level of contract and casual employment.
Disability workers have never been paid their worth because the skills, experience and qualifications needed in this largely female profession are undervalued. The AEU is running the Wake Up and Pay Up campaign, and is involved in the joint unions' case to Fair Work Australia for pay equity in social, community and disability services.
Disability services are part of the AEU's TAFE and Adult Provision sector. Greg Barclay is deputy VP for TAP. We also have two dedicated disability organisers, Kerry Maher and Meaghan Flack, available by email or on (03) 9417 2822.
