The AEU runs a busy program of events across Victoria for graduate and student teachers, including three conferences, regular PD in the Pub sessions, workshops on applying for jobs, our Meet the Principals events and dedicated PD for pre-service teachers.

National New Educators Conference - Hobart

You are invited to apply for the AEU NATIONAL New Educators Conference in Hobart. The conference is tailored for early-career teachers in Victoria who want to become more engaged in their union. Join new educators from Australia and the Pacific to engage in topics including: current and predicted changes to our education system, what could unions do to better support their members and how can you be more active at the AEU.

New Educators Network meetings

NEN is the AEU’s association for members in the first four years of their careers. It’s an opportunity to network and become involved in AEU campaigns. Meetings are held each term break and all New educators are welcome to attend. Meet the Principals

These events are held across the state and provide an opportunity for final-year student members to meet current primary and secondary school principals. Find out what principals are looking for in small discussion groups in a relaxed atmosphere and gain an insight into the application and interview process. All events run from 4.30pm–6.00pm. New Educator Activist Program

This three day professional develoment program runs each term. The program will be held at the AEU Abbotsford office.

NEN Conference

The New Educators Network conference is a full day of professional learning targeted at teachers in their first five years of teaching - the future of the teaching profession. You’ll leave with some practical teaching strategies, a stronger understanding of the challenges that face our profession and plenty of opportunities to play a more active role in shaping our schools.This conference will be held from 10.00am - 4.00pm at the AEU Office, Abbotsford.

Student Teacher Conference

The AEU holds two conferences each year for final-year student teachers. Participants learn about critical issues, hear from education experts and participate in relevant workshops. It’s also an excellent networking opportunity. Both conferences will be held at the AEU Abbotsford office and will be held from 9.00am - 3.30pm. Graduate teacher conferences

The AEU runs Graduate Teacher Conferences in Term 2 each year for primary and secondary teachers that allow participants to learn about crucial issues, hear from educational experts and participate in targeted and timely workshops. Each event runs from 8.30am to 3.45pm at the AEU Abbotsford office.

PD in the Pub

Free to AEU members, these sessions offer valuable, practical PD from a top class practitioner in a convivial surrounding — followed by a beer on us. Click here to link to view all details.
