Ready, Set, Teach: Student Teacher Conference
Are you ready to start your teaching career? The Student Teacher Conference is a fantastic professional development opportunity that allows participants to learn about critical issues, hear from education experts and participate in targeted and timely workshops. In addition, the conference is an excellent opportunity to meet and network with peers from other universities.
This years keynote speaker from VIT will prepare you for the year ahead in terms of your registration.
After you graduate you are provisionally registered as a teacher and to successfully progress to full registration you need to know what resources to find, what networks to be a part of and most importantly what criteria you have to meet to demonstrate that you are a highly capable and accomplished professional. You will need to be registered with VIT if you intend to work, or are working as a teacher or principal in any Victorian government, Catholic or independent school. If you are employed or engaged in the role of an early childhood teacher in a Victorian children’s education and care service or children’s service, or in a school early learning centre, you will need to be registered also. Other workshops will give you insight into the Casual Relief Teaching, Early Childhood, and applying for jobs in government schools.
The conference will be held at AEU Victoria, Abbotsford and will run from 8.30am - 3.00pm. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
Meet the Principals
This is a wonderful chance to meet a panel of primary and secondary principals and hear what they look for in a graduate teacher. All participants will have time to ask questions on critical topics like job applications and interviews. These popular sessions are also a great opportunity to network with colleagues moving towards their education careers and hear from principals with extensive leadership experience.
All sessions will run from 4.00pm – 6.00pm. These are members' only meetings for AEU student members, graduate members and graduate CRT members, however students can join on the night — and remember student membership is free.
