The AEU runs a busy program of events across Victoria for graduate and student teachers, including three conferences, regular PD in the Pub sessions, workshops on applying for jobs, our Meet the Principals events and dedicated PD for pre-service teachers.

New Educator Activist Program

This three day professional develoment program runs each term. The program will be held at the AEU Abbotsford office.

New Educators Network meetings

Run by New Educators for New Educators. A termly network meeting for pre-service and graduate teachers in their first five years. An opportunity to network while developing your professional and union knowledge. Meetings run 10.00am - 11.30am.. For further information, email Adam Surmacz or call him on (03) 9417 2822. Early Career Teacher Conference

The AEU runs Graduate Teacher Conferences in Term 2 each year for primary and secondary teachers that allow participants to learn about crucial issues, hear from educational experts and participate in targeted and timely workshops. Each event runs from 8.30am to 3.45pm at the AEU Abbotsford office.

Review, reflect, reset  - Reviewing your practice is an essential part of being an effective educator, both inside and outside the classroom. Now that you’ve had some experience  eaching and working with the school community it’s time to reflect. ‘Review, Reflect, Reset’ will assist you to consolidate your strengths and identify your weaknesses so that you are in the best position to access new  trategies and perspectives to improve your practice and professional well-being. Sessions will be led by a fantastic range of speakers we will announce soon. They’re a mix of some of Australia’s best academics, educationalists and  practitioners. Each speaker is here to support you to thrive in your first years of teaching. Student Teacher Conference

The Student Teacher Conference is a fantastic professional development opportunity that allows participants to learn about critical issues, hear from education experts and participate in targeted and timely workshops. The conference is also an excellent opportunity to meet and network with peers from other universities. Meet the Principals

This is a wonderful chance to meet a panel of primary and secondary principals and hear what they look for in a graduate teacher. All participants will have time to ask questions on critical topics like job applications and interviews. These popular sessions are also a great opportunity to network with colleagues moving towards their education careers and hear from principals with extensive leadership experience.

All sessions will run from 4.00pm – 6.00pm. These are members' only meetings for AEU student members, graduate members and graduate CRT members, however students can join on the night — and remember student membership is free.  Please click here to download a flyer and on a date below to register.

NEN Conference

The New Educators Network conference is a full day of professional learning targeted at teachers in their first five years of teaching - the future of the teaching profession. You’ll leave with some practical teaching strategies, a stronger understanding of the challenges that face our profession and plenty of opportunities to play a more active role in shaping our schools.This conference will be held from 10.00am - 4.00pm at the AEU Office, Abbotsford.
