AEU early childhood research
The AEU conducts regular surveys and research into the views and professional experiences of early childhood members.
Workload survey
An AEU survey of more than 400 early childhood teachers and assistants has found the sector struggling to cope with waves of reform under the national agenda for early childhood — despite broad support for the agenda's goals — and many considering leaving the profession.
State of our Preschools
More than 370 teachers from 212 early childhood centres (152 run by parent committees) completed this survey, published in February 2007. Almost half had increased fees in the previous year, leading to falling enrolments and children being withdrawn. Teachers also reported rising workloads.
