The AEU provides broad-ranging professional support for principal class members, from one-to-one help and advice from its organisers, to training and development opportunities provided by its partners in the VELC consortium and Teacher Learning Network.
One-to-one support
Our three AEU Principals organisers Jeff Walters, Peter Hendrickson and Bob Parr can offer on-site visits and consultations, and support principal class members with information, advice, legal opinions and referrals, conflict resolution assistance and advocacy and act as a professional friend on issues including:
- School resourcing
- Difficulties with staff or parents
- Merit Protection Board matters
- Your own industrial rights and conditions
- Interpretation of the Schools Agreement
- Managing Education Department bureaucracy.
Conferences, meetings and networks
AEU Principals holds regular meetings (PDF 95KB) across the state, to brief principal class members on current issues and developments and provide you with an opportunity to meet socially and voice your concerns.
Every year‚ VELC and AEU Principals run a principals' conference. This is a significant PD opportunity for school leaders‚ with a history of attracting internationally renowned keynote speakers and running challenging and practical workshops all targeting current educational issues. This is an opportunity to access current and future educational conversations at the best value-for-money conference for educational leaders in Victoria.
