TAFE Bulletin - Salary increases and attendance time

07 October 2009

This TAFE Bulletin contains information regarding the Salary Increase - October 1 and Attendance Time.

For those of you who have just had a break, we hope you have returned to work refreshed and ready for what will be a busy final term for teachers - and for the AEU as we continue our TAFE4ALL campaign against the Brumby Government's Skills Reform policy.

Salary Increase-October 1
As a result of the new TAFE Multi Business Agreement, all teachers and senior educators on the incremental scale will this month receive a salary increase of 3.25%. This increase took effect from Thursday October 1. The following table shows the new salary rates.

Classification Level October 1, 2009
SE3 $80,019
SE2 $77,438
SE1 $74,856
T5 $72,275
T4.2 $69,042
T4.1 $64,884
T3.2 $63,215
T3.1 $58,813
T2.2 $57,610
T2.1 $54,252
T1.2 $50,005
T1.1 $46,542

Since the new MBA was approved, teachers who were classified as T4.2 for at least 12 months prior to the MBA and then translated to the T5 classification on July 1, have had 3 salary increases.

This means total salary increases of $9,487 per annum since October 1, 2008.

All sessional teachers will receive a salary increase up to 3.26%, also effective from October 1, 2009.

Attendance Time
For all teachers, irrespective of whether you work on or off campus, it is timely to remember that no matter which Institute you are working for, you are entitled to 42 weeks attendance per year. That means your annual workplan, which should have been written in consultation with your manager earlier this year, must indicate an agreed 42 weeks attendance.
