TAFE4All: AEU seeks early meeting with new minister21 January 2010The AEU hopes the change of ministerial responsibility for TAFE will create a fresh opportunity for dialogue with the Victorian Government about its inequitable Skills Reform policy. Minister Jacinta Allan no longer has the Workplace Skills and Training portfolio as a result of Premier John Brumby's cabinet reshuffle. Education Minister Bronwyn Pike assumes responsibility for TAFE. Minister Allan moves on to Industry and Trade.
The AEU has sought an early meeting with Minister Pike to discuss the forthcoming review of the Government's Skills Reform policy.
The change of portfolio does not impact on the aims and strategies of the TAFE4All campaign. The AEU's campaign will continue to seek significant change in the lead up to the review.
The AEU advises members of the importance of continuing the TAFE4All campaign and continuing to speak up in support of a fair go for quality, affordable education for everyone. The website tafe4all.org.au will continue to post information about the latest news about the campaign and how to stay involved.
