Education Support Regional Conferences

Our annual Melbourne ES conference each August has become a major fixture in the AEU calendar. This year's event is on August 6, 2010.

Our Regional ES Conferences, introduced in response to increasing demand from country members, have become permanent events in the AEU schedule. Venues for this year included Geelong, Bendigo, Wodonga, Pakeham and Stawell. Last year we visited Warrnambool, Echuca, Shepparton, Wangaratta and Mildura. If you would like the AEU to come to your region just let us know

The Regional program reflects the needs of ES staff and includes workshops on managing difficult behaviour, organisational health, implementing the Agreement, legal liability and many more, often by request. The conferences are a great opportunity to network with other ES members, share ideas and learn new ways of overcoming old problems.

Like the Melbourne conference, our regional events have proven very successful. We have taken members' advice on board and reduced the number of workshops allowing more time on each topic. And we have introduced a very popular Q & A session from our metro conference, allowing time for general questions and answers.

Member forums

The first step in improving ES conditions is for ES staff to be better informed about how their schools are managed, and to understand their rights and entitlements. Our program of member forums runs throughout the year after school at the AEU office in Abbotsford. Why not get a group together from your school and attend these informative sessions together? Dates will be listed here when available.
