Validation process and workshops
The validation process for early childhood teachers involves those teachers who have been at the top of the Graduate or Accomplished classification for 12 months and satisfactorily completed their Professional Development and Enhancement requirements.
An eligible Graduate level teacher would apply for Accomplished classification and an eligible Accomplished level teacher would apply for Exemplary level.
Validation consists of an independent review of evidence, supplied by the teacher, which addresses the requirements of a set of professional standards related to Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice and Professional Engagement and Commitment. You can find a description of the roles and responsibilities for each classification and the standards in VECTAA (PDF 1.6MB) (schedules 4 and 6) and LGECEEA (PDF 786KB) (schedules 4 and 6).
A teacher seeking to reclassify may submit a "Notice of Intention" no more than six months prior to their incremental anniversary date. A copy of this shall be provided by the teacher to VETASSESS and the employer. When ready to commence the validation process, and no less than three months prior to their incremental anniversary date, the teacher shall complete and submit the "Application for Validation". The time between application and outcome is generally three months.
