The AEU provides training for members who are undertaking the important role of Sub-Branch Reps (including WOWs) in schools. This session has been developed especially for WOWs so it is for women-only audience and is suitable for those who would benefit from attending training in a women-centred space. Through this one-day course, you will explore the key entitlements of the VGSA and develop an understanding of the bargaining process. This training provides AEU WOWs with a fantastic opportunity to meet other AEU WOWs, find out more about how your union works and the issues that are common to members. The aim is to support you to feel confident about growing and supporting your sub-branch particularly around matters relating to gender equality. (Note: You are only eligable for this training if you have NOT previously undertaken AEU Reps training in 2024 or 2025).
Schools' members have access to trade union training leave which allows teachers and ES to attend up to 5 days of union training in any one year (or 10 days over 2 years).
The AEU also offers to reimburse teacher/ES replacement costs where your workplace has employed a replacement (Casual Relief Teacher, Educator or ES casual) for you for the training period. In addition to registering for the AEU training here, you will also need to undertake your workplace's internal professional development approval process.
If you have any dietary, access or support requirements in order to fully participate in the training, please include your details when registering, or by emailing your requirements directly to [email protected] to ensure that we can make reasonable adjustments. Please note that the venue is accessible for people using wheelchairs and other mobility aides.
