The Fair Work Commission has approved the new TAFE agreement covering all teaching staff in standalone TAFE institutes, which will formally come into effect next Friday 19 October.
The agreement sets a new benchmark for wages and conditions for TAFE teachers in Victoria.
TAFE members campaigned over many years to achieve this historic agreement, which lifts salaries by 5.4% per year over the next four years and addresses the key issues of workload and insecure employment.
The agreement requires the first salary increase, which includes back pay to 1 May 2018, to be paid by 16 November. AEU members can access further details here.
The AEU, in conjunction with the union's TAFE Committee representatives, has developed comprehensive written advice to support the implementation of all aspects of the agreement, to be made available to members in the coming weeks.
We will also be providing members with online and face-to-face training opportunities covering new features of the enterprise agreement.
This agreement covers all teaching staff in standalone TAFE institutes. Negotiations are continuing at Victoria University, Federation University and RMIT for new enterprise agreements for TAFE teachers in those institutions.
