The AEU Victorian Branch currently has more than 50,000 members in public primary and secondary schools, TAFE, Adult Migrant Education Services (AMES), disability services and preschools. Federally, the AEU has over 185,000 members.

Bio: Meredith Peace
Meredith Peace is president of the Australian Education Union (Victorian Branch). She has worked in full-time elected roles for the AEU since 2001. She is also a member of the AEU federal executive and is currently a vice president of the Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC). Read more
Meredith is a registered secondary teacher (science, biology, geography, maths, environmental science), who has taught in both country and metropolitan schools. She is also the AEU federal environment representative and a certified ‘Climate Reality’ project presenter with a long-held interest in environmental issues.
Meredith was educated in public schools in country Victoria and has always been a strong advocate for public education and social justice. She believes governments have a responsibility to provide a free, high-quality, well-resourced public education system – giving all students a shot at realising their full potential.
