Your enterprise agreement
Your enterprise agreement lays out the terms and conditions of your work, including your wage, leave, workload, and dispute resolution processes.
Most Victorian TAFE teachers are covered by the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2015 (MEA).
The MEA expired on July 2, 2016 but remains in effect until a new enterprise agreement is finalised. Negotiations are currently underway for a new statewide agreement covering the 12 standalone TAFE institutes.
It always pays to know your enterprise agreement. That’s why the AEU offers a range of targeted training free to members to help you understand and implement your agreement in the workplace.
An award sets the minimum terms and conditions of a workplace. Each award is determined by Fair Work Australia, and an employer cannot lawfully provide terms and conditions that are worse than the award.
An enterprise agreement builds on top of an award, providing better terms and conditions than the bare minimum.
When an enterprise agreement is in operation, the award does not apply.
Victorian TAFE teachers are covered by the Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award 2010.
